Mystery Solved! Coolant Pressure Pulses Found...
Thank you for the poster. Great work
In a scope like that, the ground level for both canals is always the same. Thereafter, there is no need to connect the ground pin of both canals - it is enough to ground one canal only. One point grounding, no problems.
Awesome !
Very educational!! Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge!!
is there amazon link ?
Can i read resistance inside engine Control module by pin for can high and low And what give me ohm if can that
If it has the terminating resistor, yes. 120 Ohm 👍
Thanks for sharing
I'm amazed at how many "so-called" diagnostic technicians fly in blind. The latest example of which I saw on UA-cam. It was a v8 4.2 R8 Audi with a flashing engine light. The first mistake was they didn't go back to basics and understand how the ECU senses certain stuff. But perhaps more importantly, the misfire they were looking for they missed the HT spark plug being one of the most common faults. The coil pack. The misfire in this case was most likely via a knock sensor... they missed all of that, thinking outside "the computer says this". I see it all the time. In this case the technician broke out the ECU security (by abrasive wheel cutting) before looking for the not so obvious (but the obvious to others). The most common faults are not faulty ECU's but sensors, coils etc that get heat damaged over time. Classic ones on Audi are water and oil temp sensors that affect the starting and running controls. Obviously if they read wildly different when cold then one or both are faulty
Nice 1 & thank u
If it is engine problems and you plan on keeping the car a long time, then just disconnect the shit ecu and install an aftermarket one
Yesterday I was able to see what's happening on my Can Bus ,thanks to the content.
Great! What did you find?
@@MechanicMindseti hooked the 2204a up to the obd port pin 14 and 6 with earth on a body ground, good signal just abit of tweaking,I could see those packets,Can would fall asleep till I opened the door as I'd key off ,now to figuring out what those IDs are 😁
Dark side of the moon for me. Deffo need to understand it better.
Hope this helped somewhat!
@@MechanicMindset certainly did, many thanks. I'll try and keep up lol. Keep up the great work👍🏻
AWESOME, thanks for another nugget of a video Darren 🙂 , I see you have a new employee hard on the job ( Daffy Duck) nothing like a good team effort I guess !! keep up the great work, Bless 😇
Haha 😜 got to mix it up a bit 😃
You know…sometimes you think, “I’m going to just lift this coil off of this plug. No risk involved here obviously.” Then it turns out the coil is rotted out and the head piece breaks right off it. All of them. Then you have to rip it out of the cylinder boar little piece by piece. Fing cars lol
🤣🫣
Back again trying to freshen up my Can bus knowledge. Fighting with a Bobcat skid steer loader having electrical gremlins keeping it from powering up. Pretty sure I traced it down to a bad display module! Thanks for the good video!
Great job!
Where did you get that simulator board ?
Snap On van - don’t think they are made anymore
Trying to sign up as a service provider, yet the resources online are very limited. (USA). any info you can pass along?
An excellent introduction to CAN bus. Thank you. I shall watch some more of your stuff now as this is all new to me. (I've just skipped forward 25 years in automotive technology, from 1997 - the last year before everything had a computer and a CAN bus.)
Great! Hope it all helps 👍

Amazing content, definitely subscribing! I might use this on a daily basis but it’s always good to hear someone else’s process

I'm curious, you've already addressed the 1008c for resolution ua-cam.com/video/13LZ5P_zBAM/v-deo.htmlsi=pKS7RxFxS67aJVrw so am I correct that this is not an issue for the 6022be? This is what I already have. I'm a shade tree guy, so I want to get as much use out of cheap stuff as possible. I'm not likely to be touching bmw at this stage, but if I want to do a timing chain they'd be high on my list.
It will probably have similar results to the 2204A. I think the main point is, if you get a waveform like this, don’t assume the car is at fault. It could be scope specs. You may never see a sensor signal like this, but they are getting more common on later vehicles. Just one to be aware of 👍
@@MechanicMindset no doubt as technology processes things are less likely to fail in one area but newer ideas transfer to another ie timing chains prone to stretching. Seems to be a modern feature of long service intervals, single row timing chains.
@@andrewlace That’s it!

Depends on which type of CAN it is. This only works for High Speed CAN 👍
Channel b where do u connect on coil On positive or on signal wire?
It would be signal wire. You might need an attenuator too 👍

Awesome, thank you!
Great video Darrren , this is what technicians of today want too see ! Was a pleasure to see you at the NEC Garage & Bodywork , great day , cheers
Cheers Rob! Great to catch up again, you still need to drop by some time!
I got job for you, you could get one Fnrsi DSO TC3, a 5 in one device, beside all other features it offers, it also have one channel oscilloscope . And as You tested once DSO 138 cheap DIY oscilloscope in automotive job. It would be nice to see how DSO TC3 doing, it is fairly cheap device and quite useful device to have. For how much it cost it offers a lot. I did tested it in some other occasions how it doing, but it is not seen many times as my channel does not growing and don't doing any good, it would be nice to see it here in automotive job.
So on scanner danner he says if you unplug one of the 5volt reverence sensors that you can find one that’s bring down the system. Ok but if all the sensors are on the system connected how can they all be 5 volts. Confused 🫤
That might help if the 5V supply is shorted. Usually there are 2 or 3 separate 5V circuits. We did a lesson where we analysed an ECU schematic. Quite interesting!
@@MechanicMindset 🤔👍🏻
Would love to have an explanation of pull up pull down circuits and why are some called low side switched and high side switched and load side switched and switch side switched. It’s confusing I was technician in the 70s to early 80s and need some clarification and explanation. Please 👍🏻

I always asked customers to tell me as much information as possible before i even started checking the car out.alot of the times it answered the problem or at least sent me in the right direction.

I have a question, when there's 20 inch of Mercury on the intake stroke, then at the bottom of the non combustion stroke, would the process of squashing the air not heat it up a bit and cause the pressure at the bottom of the non combustion stroke to be slightly higher?
I see what you’re saying. I suppose opposite to compressing (and heating) the air, when the cylinder domes down it drops the pressure (cooling it) again. I think more of a different would be seen from the small amount that’s lost past the rings in compression
@MechanicMindset ahh right. Is that the same principle as when fuel is atomized to a lower pressure within a carb and can cause it to freeze up because of temperature drop? Lower pressure means drop in temperature?
@@RideBikes_Walkplaces Maybe, pressure and temperature are certainly related regarding gasses 👍
Well done here..
Ooh this is well thought out and presented, thank you
Thanks! Hope it helps
